The University of Novi Sad Faculty of Sciences (UNSPMF) was founded in 1969 and has been the country’s strong base of science and teaching ever since. The Faculty is comprised of five departments which conduct teaching and research in a wide range of specific and attractive study programmes: chemistry, biochemistry, environmental protection, biology, ecology, physics, computer science, mathematics, geography, and tourism. The departments serve as unique (inter)disciplinary hubs, which facilitate optimal use of modern teaching and scientific equipment. Committed and competent staff across the departments make the Faculty of Sciences recognized for its excellence, responsible research and commitment to social engagement, science promotion and creating educated and open-minded young experts. UNSPMF is experienced in managing and implementing both international and national projects. Only in 2018/2019, the Faculty has participated in around 50 internationally funded projects, therefore proving the capacity to manage and logistically support various project management schemes. UNSPMF is strategically oriented to the EU and other external funding (H2020: currently participating in 8; Interreg IPA CBC and transnational programmes; Erasmus Plus KA1 and KA2-currently participating in 4 Erasmus + KA2 projects), trying to unlock and fully employ its excellence and exploit the results achieved through previous EU programs: FP5, FP6, FP7, European Agency for Reconstruction and Development, COST actions, South East Europe Program, IPA Interreg Cross-border and Translational Cooperation Programs, Erasmus Plus, together with many bi- and multilateral education and research projects (with Thailand, Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, France, Switzerland-4 projects under SCOPES 2013-2016 program). The research strategy is directed towards internationalization of education and research, boosting human resources and capacity building, and increasing overall institutional excellence. University of Novi Sad is committed to principles of The European Charter for Researchers and Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers and is awarded the HR Excellence in Research Logo, which states the institutional commitment to providing the best supporting services to researchers wishing to pursue research career in Serbia. Staff of the UNSPMF are productive with more than 200 scientific papers annually published in international scientific journals. More than a hundred of those are rated as exceptional on SCI list (ranked among the first 50%).
